TAYLOR TALK

by Taylor Moxey

I posted a reset button on my Instagram page on Monday. It was a reminder that spring is coming and that it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on everything that’s come our way so far. Good and not so good. This month, I was talking to my dance teacher and letting her know that I felt like I was in creative rut. Her answer was, “Me too.”

Needless to say, her response surprised me! I’m not sure what I was expecting from her, but it wasn’t this. She then pauses and in her most Texas or southern way reassured me that “Child, we all go through it. It’s how you respond that makes all the difference.” One of the creative solutions she gave me was to allow myself to hit the RESET button of life. This doesn’t mean scrapping everything I’ve worked for; it simply means reevaluate the why I was doing it. I took a few days and worked on changing my perspective on things. It helped BIG TIME!!

RESETTING can be healthy for our mind, bodies, and souls. It allows us to take a step back and see what we have done so far. Edit what we need to and continue to flow in areas that are good to us. I took some notes from our conversation, and I’ll share them with you. I’m sure you’ll find them helpful.

  1. Comparison is the theft of joy. So many of us may feel the need to compare ourselves to others. Everyone’s journey is different. Every approach is different. Finding your space and operating in it is the biggest rush of joy you will ever experience. If you’re comparing yourself to someone else, please STOP!!

  2. Focus on your gift: This was so empowering to find out. Our gift is an inborn skill while our talent is acquired and developed. We all have a gift that we came to this world to bring. Understanding this is a game changer. For example, I love to dance, it’s a gift. I work eight hours per day to develop it. This discipline allows me to use the same approach as a public speaker and entrepreneur and in my foundation. Understanding my gift as a dancer and working to develop it has carried over into other areas of my life.

  3. When you’re tired, rest don’t quit. Hitting the reset button can help with time management. Rest is important, balance is important, and fun is important. I hope seeing this button and reading this helps to encourage you. We all go through it. Hit that reset button whenever you feel you need it.
